De:Bug review by Sascha Kösch: Nach all den Jahren hat Nooncat, aka Alex Meshkov, jetzt schon eine Weile ein eigenes Label. Eighteenthirtyeight. Und es macht süchtig. Die beiden scheinbar lapidar nummerierten Titel gleiten vom ersten Sound an in diesem Universum aus klar schimmernden, hoffnungsvollen Oldschooldubs, die jeden Moment in sich glühen, als hätte Nooncat das Glück der Synths und Drummachines gerade erst entdeckt. Musik, die einen wie ein Papierschiff im sanften Trudeln der Wellen hält, einen sanft abholt, absetzt und immer mitnimmt. Understatement kann so groß sein. Auch “03.2″ mit seinen dunkleren Tönen und holzigeren Beats lockt mit dem analogen Rauschen, das in seiner Vielschichtigkeit schon so vielversprechend ist, dass es eine zeitlose Weite vermittelt. Und wenn die ersten leichten Dubchordtupfer einsetzen, er sie schichtet wie Öl auf einem Gemälde, langsam zerfließen läßt, dann wird klar, dass Nooncat völlig zu sich zurückgefunden hat und mittlerweile Musik macht, weil sie einfach so in ihm lebt. Wunderschöne Platte.
